Dear Bono:
I wrote a song once. It had no lyrics and the words, which I thought at the time were edgy, were a cross between Angelia (Richard Marx) and something by REM. Not that I am saying there is anything wrong with either of those artists. Just that there was a real discordance in my song.
So, I wonder how you do it. How do you find such divine inspiration to draft such eloquent works?
I also applaud you and the boys for wearing your faith so openly. I was not able to do so until very recently. I am happy to call myself a Christian/Catholic now. I also understand the great importance of identifying myself as a follower of Christ and behaving in a way that shows I have adopted the values of Christianity, as well.
Thank you for your shining example.

A Note of Thanks
Dear Bono (and the boys) :
I just wanted to tell you thanks for being such a good friend.
Your music has been such a good friend to me. At moments of loneliness, I have felt surrounded by love. At moments of despair, I have been shown hope. At moments of loss, I have found comfort.
Your words are inspirational and I thank you.

Your inspiration
Dear Bono:
I wonder how you write the beautiful songs you write and how you choose the words that inspire me so. It is amazing to me that your songs seem to reach right into my heart and capture an emotion that is both elusive and fleeting. And all this from someone who (believes he) can't sing (but he's got soul.)
There are certain lines that I like to pluck from your songs when the mood strikes me:
"You've got to cry without weeping, talk without speaking, scream without raising your voice" (disparity)
"What you've got they cannot steal it, no they can't even feel it" (anger)
"Whose to say where the wind will take you, whose to say what it is will break you" (hope)
"In a little while, surely you'll be mine" (love)
Were you in these moods when you created these songs, or are they divinely inspired?
Take care,

My American Idol
Dear Bono:
I saw you on American Idol last night. I imagine, if I were a contestant (by some bloody miracle and a whole lot of Guiness), our meeting would have gone a little something like this:
Bono: Welcome. What will you be singing for me?
Me: Smiarhg297- duh...
Bono: I didn't quite catch that. I can tell you are nervous. What is your name?
Me: Um-uh, duh, duh, um-uh.
Bono: It says on your name tag: Heather, is that right?
Me: Urr, uh, uh-huh! (Beaming proudly because I finally said something!)
Bono: Why don't you start singing and I'll give you some pointers.
Me: "Am I getting better, or do I sound the same? Am I making it easier on your ears, or do I take the blame?"
Bono (to the camera): I don't quite know what to say. How about - Time for a Commercial Break???

On a more serious note,
I applaud your efforts for poverty relief in the world. I am proud of you for using your talents and your fame to put a spotlight on a very serious issues and to put pressure on people to join you. Maybe we can end hunger and poverty.
Keep up the good work-

Blogging for Bono
Dear Bono:
I had that dream again last night. You know, the one where I am at your concert, you see me in the crowd, and then you pull me on stage. We sing a duet - I am just fabulous, you are Irish and the crowd loves us both. Of course, that's because this is my dream. (In the reality version, we're both Irish, you sing fabulously, and I can't get my voice out - or at least I imagine that's how it would be.)
After the concert, you come over to my house and my husband and I make you and the boys a fabulous meal. You're all tired, and you love the home cooked meal. My kids love the duet you sing with mommy - and the fact that you have met Mickey Mouse is really impressive to them.
Of course, as with most dreams, I wake up. I have a smile on my face.
Someday, maybe we will meet.
Until then, I'll just write to you here.
